    Robbery

    • Be aware of your surroundings. Walk with a purpose, head up, and look around.

    • Stay in lighted areas at night

    • Stay with the crowd - there is safety in numbers

    • Notify the police of strangers who are hanging around your home, apartment or place of business for no apparent reason

    • Take the profit out of robbery by not carrying large sums of money, or credit cards on your person whenever possible

    • While driving, keep your vehicle doors locked

    Auto Theft

    • Park high-risk cars in a garage or box them in

    • Upgrade software in Kias and Hyundais

    • Purchase anti-theft devices (Club, kill-switch, GPS tracking)

    • Never confront anyone stealing your vehicle, call 911 immediately. Give good descriptions of the subjects and a direction of travel

    • Do not leave your keys in your vehicle while it is warming up in the morning

    Theft from Motor Vehicle

    • Don’t leave any valuables in your vehicle overnight

    • Remember to lock your vehicle!

    • Park in well-lit areas

    • Install cameras/motion lights looking at your driveway/garage

  • Please call the Mayor’s Hotline at (402) 444-5555 or go online here to report any of the following issues:

    • Potholes

    • Abandoned Vehicles

    • Litter issues

    • Parking issues

    • City Park issues

    • Code/Housing Violations

    • Illegal Dumping

    • Speed Enforcement

    • Graffiti

    • Traffic Signal issues

    • Tree/Shrub issues

    • Persistent Noise Complaints

  • If you have been the victim of a crime, you are strongly encouraged to report it to the police. If a crime is actively being committed, call 911!

    The Telephone Report Squad takes reports for multiple different crimes, including:

    • Destruction of Property

    • Trespassing

    • Graffiti to Vehicle/Residence

    • Identity Theft

    • Harassment

    • Shoplifting/Thefts/Fraud

    How to Call: call (402) 444-4877, then

    • Speak to the Operator and answer their questions about the incident that occurred

    • At the end of the call, the operator will provide you with a police case number (RB#)

    • Use this case number to follow up with the department about your case

    • Follow-up with an officer or detective will occur if there is enough evidence/probably cause to continue an investigation

  • These crimes are sent out by Crime Prevention Specialists to precinct command staff (Captains, Lieutenants, Sergeants). If there are specific problems or issues that need to be addressed by officers, please follow these steps:

    • Leave a voicemail if no answer
